  • - In case your receipt is on landscape layout, use the rotate function before scanning.

How can I scan a receipt?

Scan receipt is available only for single page mode

  • - Select "Scan" from the main grid.
  • - Take a picture of your receipt by pressing the central button , adjust the cropping edges if needed then press the scan button .
  • - Long tap to select the correct words from the upper half of the dual screen and hold and drag them in the matching fields.
  • - Fill in manually in case of the mandatory fields (marked with red) are still uncovered.
  • - Press "Save" (right upper corner) button when finished and find your receipt in the Library.

What information does a receipt form contain?

  • - Vendor: The name of the company that provided the receipt.
  • - Date: The date printed on the receipt.
  • - VAT: The VAT applied to the subtotal.
  • - Total: Total value of the receipt.
  • - Category: The Accounting category for the receipt.
  • - Tags: The keywords that describe the content, useful also for searching the Library.
  • - Notes: Any comments regarding the receipt.

What are the categories from the receipt form?

The receipt form lists categories for accounting purposes that are used for financial statement cost categorisation and tax filing purposes. These categories are selected according to general accounting classifications.

If any categories are missing, please use the application feedback form and the Fiskl team will review and implement the suggestions.

What are the tags from the receipt form?

Tags are user chosen keywords linked to the expense category, client, projector specific task and are used to specifically describe the content for easier search in the receipt Library.

For example, if the selected category is "Meals and Entertainment" then your tags can be "dinner with client", "business development meeting", "Client task", etc.

The use of tags is optional. Fiskl implemented tags to improve the reporting and search capabilities for the user.

Time/DistanceTime/Distance

What is a track time item?

Tracking time is useful when you work with a variety of clients that are billed at certain periods or on completion of a project. Tracking your time in Fiskl ensures you are not missing any revenues from your work with clients. At the end of the billing period you can simply attach all the time items and any other expenses to a client invoice.

How can I create a track time item?

Select the "Track time/distance" button from the home screen. At the top of the screen you can toggle between Time and Distance.

Selecting "Time" will launch the track time screen session. You can press the play button on the clock in order to start the time counter with the option to pause or reset.

The final time will automatically be updated in the "Total time" field.

After filling in the remaining fields and selecting the "Save" button in the upper right corner, the current track time form will be saved and moved to the Library.

What is a track distance item?

Track Distance is used for tracking and then expensing mileage in expense reports, invoices and for tax purposes. Tracking your mileage in Fiskl ensures that you don’t miss on deducting or expensing your car travel costs.

At the end of the billing period you can simply attach all the time items and any other expenses to a client invoice or expense report.

How can I create a track distance item?

Select the "Track time/distance" button from the home screen. At the top of the screen you can toggle between time and distance.

Selecting "Distance" will launch the track time session.

At the start of the trip enter the client/trip name and take a picture of the odometer. You can temporarily save the item until you reach the end of your destination when you can again take a picture of the odometer and complete the Distance item.
Alternately, you can also enter the total distance manually if you know and from a maps application such as Apple or Google maps.

After filling in the remaining fields, the form will compute the total amount for the distance travelled. Press the "Save" button in the upper right corner and the current track distance form will be saved and moved to the Library.

How can I attach a picture to a track distance item?

  1. Go to the ‘Start Picture’/’End Picture’ and select one of the two options that will appear on the screen: import or take picture.
  2. The "import" option will launch the phone camera roll with selection options. After selecting the appropriate image and pressing the "OK" button, the session will save it and exit.
  3. The "take picture" option will launch the camera. Using the central button to take the picture will automatically save the image and close the current session.

How can I edit a track time/distance form?

Select "Library" from the home screen and tap on the respective track time/distance item in the list. The item will open in edit mode. After completing the modifications press save button on the right upper corner.

What is an Expense Report?

An Expense Report in Fiskl is a report that tracks the expenses incurred during a client or work business trip. Examples include charges for meals, parking, lodging or working hours etc. All the information is extracted from the attached receipts or track time/distance forms and put into a format that can be easily edited, saved and submitted for approval.

How can I create a new Expense Report?

Select "Expense Reports" in the home screen and press the add new button in the upper corner. After filling in all the fields press the save button on the right upper corner.

To expedite the creation of an Expense report, use the left sliding panel to edit the Expense Reports info. Once this has been filled it will automatically be added to all of your expense reports.

How can I insert a contact from Client List in New Expense Report/Edit Expense Report?

Go to the "Send to" section and on the right of the heading select the "Plus" button. It will launch the Client List. Tap on the respective contact and it will automatically insert the available information of that contact in the form.

How can I edit an Expense Report?

Select "Library" in the home screen and tap on the respective Expense Report in the list. The list is chronological so you can either scroll or you can search for it.

The Expense Report will open in edit mode. After completing the modifications press the save button in the right upper corner.

How can I attach a receipt to an Expense report?

Go in the Line items section, press the "Plus" button, tap on the checkboxes to select the respective receipts from the Attach receipt list. Press attach button in the right upper corner. You can verify your attached receipts in the Line items section.

How can I detach a receipt from an Expense report?

In the Line items section, tap on the right down arrow in order to open the grey overlay menu. Tap on "Detach" button.

How can I submit an Expense report?

If the expense report has already been saved go to Expenses and tap on the arrow next to the respective item. You have the option to preview the expense report by selecting the preview button. If everything is correct, you can then select to send via email (@). Complete the fields in the email form and press the "Send" button.
Once the report has sent, Fiskl will automatically mark it as submitted.
If you are editing the Expense report, swipe down to view the blue action bar and select to either preview or send via email (@). Complete the fields in the email form and press the "Send" button.

What is the status of an Expense report?

An Expense Report can have one of the following statuses in Fiskl:

  • - Open: item is saved but not sent for approval and payment.
  • - Submitted: item has been sent via email.
  • - Accepted/Approved/Paid: status will be confirmed once the approver has viewed the report and selected an action.
  • - Rejected/Overdue: status will be confirmed once the approver has viewed the report and selected an action.
  • - Paid: status set manually by the user.

Fiskl is not able to confirm any bank payments that happen outside of Fiskl at the moment due to current EU bank regulations.

How can I search in Expense Reports?

In the Expenses list you can drag down the blue action bar and use the Search button from the top of the screen to find expense reports with a specific date, client, expense item or with a specific tag or note.

Search results will be listed above in chronological order, with the last modified item on top. Pressing the big "X" will end the search session and re-launch the entire Expense Report list.

What is a Quote?

A quote serves as a cost estimate for a client that has not yet decided to engage in a project. If the client accepts the quote, and once the project is finalized the next step is to convert the quote to an invoice and send it to the client.

How can I create a new Quote?

Select "Quotes" from the home screen and press the Add new right upper corner button. After filling in all the fields press "Save" button on the right upper corner.

How can I insert a contact from Client List in New Quote/Edit Quote?

Press the "Convert" button on the blue action bar from the top of the screen. Your new invoice will appear in the Library list. Open the Invoice to edit further or submit it to the client.

What is the status of a Quote?

A Quote can have one of the following statuses in Fiskl:

  • - "Open": item is saved but not yet sent to the client.
  • - "Submitted": item is sent via email to the client.
  • - "Accepted": status will be confirmed once the Client has viewed the Quote and selected an action.
  • - "Converted": status changes when the invoice converted from the quote has been saved.

What is an invoice?

An invoice is a detailed bill for the services provided to your client and any associated expenses for a given time period. The invoice establishes an obligation on the part of the purchaser to pay, creating an account receivable.

How can I create a new Invoice?

Select "Invoices" from the home screen and press the Add new right upper corner button. After filling in all the fields press "Save" button on the right upper corner.

How can I insert a contact from the Client List in a new Invoice or edit Invoice?

Go to the "Bill to" section and select the "Plus" button. This will launch the Client List. Tap on the respective client and it will automatically insert the available information of that contact in the form.

How can I edit an Invoice?

What does the Library contain?

The Library consists of a chronological list of all the saved receipts and track time/distance items. The last modified item appears on the top of the list.

You can add new Receipts from the Library list by pressing the Plus button in the upper right corner.

How can I add a receipt with a picture without scanning?

Select "Library" from the home screen and press the "Add receipt" button (upper right corner). Tap on the camera icon to take a photo or import it from your camera roll. If importing from your phone camera roll, select your image(s) and upload by pressing "Ok" button. Take advantage of the dual screen to easily verify the introduced data. You can zoom into the image to view details close up.

After all covering all mandatory fields press the "Save" button in the right upper corner.

How do I add a receipt without a picture?

Go to "Library" and press the "Plus" button. Select the "No Picture" button from the left corner to go directly to the receipt form. Fill in the fields and select the "Save" button in the right upper corner to finish.

How can I edit an item from Library?

In the "Library" screen tap on the respective item in the list. The item will open in edit mode.

How do I manage multiple page receipts?

In the camera screen, press the batch mode button before taking the receipt pictures.

Start taking pictures of each of the receipt pages (up to 4 pages are currently supported). The number of pages is updated inside the batch mode button as you are taking the pictures.

When you are finished, press the check mark button to progress to the receipt form where you can manually edit and save the receipt. You can swipe left or right to view the various images. Please note that batch mode scanning is not yet supported.

What is the status for receipts and track time/distance?

There are 3 statuses of the receipts in Library:

  1. Attached - marked with a green colour around the receipt thumbnail. Used for the receipt already used for an Expense Report, a Quote or an Invoice.
  2. Pending -marked with a yellow colour around the receipt thumbnail for unfinished distance items.
  3. Unattached - marked with a grey colour around the receipt thumbnail for items that have not yet been included yet in an Expense Report, a Quote or an Invoice.

How can I search in the Library?

In the Library on the home screen you can drag or swipe down the blue action bar and use the Search button from the top of the screen to find invoices with a specific receipt, time or distance item by date, client, vendor or a specific tag or note.

How can I import clients from within my phone’s Contacts to the Client List?

On the sliding panel from Home screen select "Client List". Press the left button from the right upper corner of the screen in order to launch the phone Contacts.

Tapping on a contact will automatically extract the data in the information form where additional empty fields may be filled in manually.

Mandatory fields, such as email are marked with red colour. To finalise the import go to the save button in the upper right corner and then find your contact in the Client List.

How can I add a new client to Client List?

On the sliding panel from Home screen select "Client List". Press the "Plus" button from the upper right corner of the screen and a new Client form will appear. Fill-in the fields paying attention to the mandatory fields then press the save button in the upper right corner and find your contact in the Client List.

How can I edit the contact information in Client List?

In the Client List, tap on the respective contact and it will open the form in edit Save your changes after completion by selecting the save button in the upper right corner.

How can I delete a contact in Client List?

In the Client List, tap on the respective contact and it will open the contact form in edit mode. At the end of the fields press the delete contact button.

What are Fiskl rewards?

Fiskl rewards you when your refer friends and colleagues and they subscribe to Fiskl. For example, if you refer one friend to Fiskl, your friend trials it and decides to subscribe both you and your friend will receive one free month of subscription.

What other Fiskl rewards are there?

If you decide to opt for a one year subscription, Fiskl will reward you with 3 free months. This will be always be valid for your first year of subscription, as Fiskl may change its promotions in subsequent years.

How many friends can I refer to Fiskl?

There is no limit to the number of persons you can refer to Fiskl.

How can I track my Fiskl rewards?

You can track your Fiskl rewards in the Fiskl web dashboard. You reward will be automatically applied to your account.

Why didn't I get my registration confirmation?

If you haven't received the confirmation email within a few minutes please check your email spam box. Sometimes the validation code triggers the spam filtering.

If you don't see it there please "Contact us" with the details and we'll get you set up.

What can I do if I forgot my password?

From the Fiskl application login screen, press "Forgot Password". An email with a link to reset your password will be sent to the email address used for the Fiskl account. You can also retrieve your password from the Fiskl web dashboard login screen.

Follow the link to reset the password and then proceed again to the Fiskl application login.

How can I change my Fiskl password?

You can change your password from the Sliding Panel in the Fiskl application or from the Fiskl web dashboard.

In the sliding panel, go to "Account Info", select "Change password" and enter your current and then your new password. Press "Change password" and save. You will receive and email confirming your password change.

What formats do you support for receipts?

We support JPG, GIF, PNG, PDF, HTML, and plain text. If there are other formats you'd like to see supported please go to the "Send feedback" form in the application.

How can I cancel my Fiskl subscription?

To be updated once we decide whether we do Apple revenue share.

Do you support any integration with accounting software such as Xero or Quickbooks?

We are planning to integrate with online accounting systems so you can easily export data from your Fiskl account, though this feature is not supported in the current release.

Please use the "Send feedback" form in the application if you would like to suggest a specific accounting software.
